Arrested for the first time on July 28, 2020, by militia officers in the KGB building, where he, along with other citizens, brought a petition to change the measure of detention of Viktar Babaryka. He was brought before the Frunzienski District Court in Minsk and sentenced to 14 days of administrative arrest for participating in an unauthorized assembly.

Arrested on August 26, 2020. Vasilevič’s apartment, office, and companies he managed were searched. Due to the non-disclosure agreement taken from his lawyer, it is unclear which article of the Criminal Code served as the basis for the criminal prosecution.

On September 7, 2020, Alaksandr Vasilevič was recognized as a political prisoner. On December 2, his daughter Uršula was born, he saw her only in photographs.

Alaksandr Vasilevič wrote a book of fairy tales for his daughter Adela behind bars. The e-book Papa and the Penguin with nine fairy tales was published by Alaksandr’s wife, Nadzieja Zielankova. The book is available online.

On February 4, the Saviecki District Court in Minsk handed down a verdict in the criminal case of Alaksandr Vasilevič under part 2 of Art. 243 of the Criminal Code (evasion of payment of taxes and fees): 3 years in a low-security penal colony. Alaksandr Vasilevič was released from the courtroom due to the expiration of the term of prosecution.
