Author and popularizer of Wikipedia.org, editor of Wikipedia since 2014, made more than 84,000 edits.

In 2021, he edited articles dedicated to the Belarusian mass media and about the detained journalist of Komsomolskaya Pravda v Belarusi Hienadź Mažejka, TUT.by journalist Kaciaryna Barysievič, the bands IQ48 and Lyapis Trubetskoy.

On March 28, the Prosecutor’s Office of Brest Region referred to the court the criminal case of Pavieł Piernikaŭ, who was accused of publishing “knowingly false information.”

Pavieł Piernikaŭ was tried for editing Wikipedia. In December 2020, he edited the Wikipedia article “List of deaths related to protests in Belarus (2020-2021).”  Changes were made to one article in two languages: Russian and Belarusian (Taraškievica) to the section about the murder of peaceful protester Hienadź Šutaŭ in Brest, as well as to the preamble (where it is stated that the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the authorities did not admit responsibility for the death of the protesters). On March 6, 2021, in the Russian-language Wikipedia, Pavieł Piernikaŭ added the line to the article Censorship in Belarus: On October 20, 2004, journalist Vieranika Čarkasava who worked for opposition newspaper “Salidarnaść” was killed in Minsk.

On April 7, 2022, the District Court Brest Moscow area sentenced Pavieł Piernikaŭ to 2 years of imprisonment in a low-security penal colony.

On April 1, 2022, Pavieł Piernikaŭ was recognized as a political prisoner.

On June 10, the Ministry of Internal Affairs added Pavieł Piernikaŭ to the “List of persons involved in extremist activities.”
