Political persecution:
He was detained in April 2025 and charged under Article 130 of the Criminal Code (incitement of hatred or discord) and Article 361-4 of the Criminal Code (facilitating extremist activity).
In December 2025, he was sentenced to restricted freedom under home confinement.
Creative activity:
His book Everyday Life in Minsk, 1944–1953 (2026) is the result of eight years of research. According to the author, “The book allows readers to peek into every corner of Minsk communal apartments and workers’ dormitories, walk through factory workshops, examine figures on payroll slips, stand in shop queues, inspect the contents of plates and glasses, and sit through a cinema screening”, as he wrote on his Facebook page.
