Alaksandr Ilin is a songwriter and vocalist of the band “Nizkiz.”

The rock band “Nizkiz” from Mahiloŭ was founded in 2008. On January 5, 2024, three members of the band “Nizkiz” were detained in Mogilev: Alaksandr Ilin, bass guitarist Siarhiej Kulša, and drummer Zmicier Chalaŭkin.

On January 8, 2024, a court hearing was held in the Lenin district court of Mahiloŭ against the musicians under Article 19.11 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (distribution of extremist materials).

On January 10, 2024, Alaksandr Ilin was again brought to court in Mogilev under Article 19.11 of the Code of Administrative Offenses.

There is no precise information about the verdicts against the musicians.

On January 29, it became known that a criminal case has been initiated against the musicians of the “Nizkiz” band, though it is unknown which article they are charged with.

On February 19, 2024, he was recognized as a political prisoner.

On March 20, 2024, Alaksandr Ilin, Siarhiej Kulša, and Zmicier Chalaŭkin were sentenced to 2 years and 6 months of restriction of liberty by the Kastryčnicki district court without being sent to an open-type correctional institution, according to Part 1 Art. 342 (‘Organization and preparation of actions that grossly violate public order, or active participation in them’)

On April 12, 2024, it became known that the rock band Nizkiz was added to the “list of extremists” for “gross violation of public order.”
