On March 14, 2023, Zmicier Bajarovič and his wife Valeryja Bajarovič were arrested in Minsk near the entrance of their house.
Zmicier Bajarovič had worked for the state TV channel STV but resigned in 2020 to express opposition to the Belarusian authorities’ violence against participants of peaceful protests.
He is being held in Pre-trial Detention Center No. 8 in Žodzina.

Addendum: Consideration of the criminal case of Zmicier Bajarovič began on July 19, 2023, in the Leninski District Court in Minsk, he was convicted on the basis of Art. 342 of the Criminal Code (organization and preparation of actions that grossly violate public order or active participation in them) – for participation in peaceful protests in 2020.
On July 20, 2023, Leninski District Court in Minsk issued a decision on the criminal case of Zmicier Bajarovič and Valeryja Bajarovič – 3 years of detention each without being sent to an open-type correctional facility (home confinement).
