Aksana Jučkavič

Poet, organizer of cultural events, journalist, author of the children’s poetry collection “Saint Nicholas, Come Visit Us!”, one of the creators of the children’s Christian video program “Angels from the Rainbow”.

She was engaged in scientific research in the field of Belarusian philology and taught Polish language courses.

In 2020, she was among those detained at the Dziady in Kurapaty and spent 9 days behind bars.

Arrested on January 23, 2023, in Minsk. On February 3, it became known that she was placed in pre-trial detention center No. 8 in Zhodzina. Aksana Jučkavič is charged under Art. 342 of the Criminal Code (organization and preparation of actions that grossly violate public order, or participation in them).

On February 19, 2024, she was recognized as a political prisoner.

On April 26, 2024, Aksana Jučkavič was sentenced to 3 years of restriction of liberty by the Frunzienski district court without being sent to an open-type correctional institution (“home confinement”).
