He is charged under Art. 342 of the Criminal Code (actions that grossly violate public order), but the details are unknown.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><b>Andrej Ko\u0142as<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, a historian and lecturer at the Mova Nanova Belarusian language courses, was detained on September 27 on the formal grounds of &#8220;checking his hunting rifle&#8221; and sentenced to 10 days in prison.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><b>Anatol Kud\u0142asievi\u010d<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, a bard and writer, was detained on September 29 after his apartment was turned into a mess by the police officers. The following day he was fined about 990 Euro for the white-red-white flag in his window.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">On October 1, the Supreme Court liquidated the <\/span><b>Union of Belarusian Writers<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt\"><b>Life of the Imprisoned People<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_8783\" style=\"width: 340px\"  class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-8783 size-gallery-thumbnails-small\" src=\"https:\/\/penbelarus.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/photo_2021-10-04-17.53.53-e1633362862123-340x240.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"340\" height=\"240\" \/ loading=\"lazy\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Kanstancin Sieviaryniec<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><b>Kanstancin Sieviaryniec<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, a Belarusian poet, translator, publicist and journalist, <\/span><b>Pavie\u0142 Sieviaryniec<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&#8216;s father, died of coronavirus on the night of October 1. Pavie\u0142 wasn\u2019t allowed to attend his father&#8217;s funeral.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><b>Natalla Chier\u0161e <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">has been transferred from the colony to male prison. In a colony, prisoners go to the canteen and to work, can walk around the closed territory of the colony, and are not in the cell all the time, like in prison.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><b>Ale\u015b Pu\u0161kin <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">in his letter writes that he refused writing a pardon petition, that he had to spend 5 days in solitary confinement, and that he has distributed about a hundred portraits of prisoners. He shares plans for a joint exhibition with artists who have been imprisoned, and is working on a play under the working title \u201cBlack Stork\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_8784\" style=\"width: 340px\"  class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-8784 size-gallery-thumbnails-small\" src=\"https:\/\/penbelarus.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/2_anton-shnip-340x240.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"340\" height=\"240\" \/ loading=\"lazy\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Anton \u0160nip<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><b>Ihar Bancer<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> will be transferred to the Viciebsk colony for the remaining 1 month and 25 days of his term for &#8220;violating the regime&#8221; of the open air prison (\u201ckhimiya\u201d).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><b>Maria Kalesnikava<\/b> <a href=\"https:\/\/svb1234.azureedge.net\/a\/31485290.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noindex noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">tells <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">in detail about her life in prison, her principles and faith in the Belarusian people.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><b>Anton \u0160nip<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, an imprisoned bagpiper from the band Irdorath, intends to marry his girlfriend in the pre-trial detention center, but hasn\u2019t received a response from the Investigative Committee. \u0160nip&#8217;s defence was suspended until October 15, his lawyer\u2019s license is likely to be revoked.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt\"><b>Dissent and Cultural Activism <\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><b>PEN Belarus<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> has <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/penbelarus.org\/en\/2021\/10\/01\/manifest-nyapeunaga-chasu.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">published<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> the <\/span><b>&#8220;Vague Time Manifesto&#8221;<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, which includes the most important principles of the organization&#8217;s existence and activity in the conditions of the political crisis in Belarus after August 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Here are some points from it:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-8822 size-gallery-thumbnails-small alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/penbelarus.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/manifesto_en-340x240.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"340\" height=\"240\" \/ loading=\"lazy\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">PEN Belarus sees its mission in building a space for the development of culture, dialogue and realization of the potential of creators, in protecting the civil and cultural rights and freedoms of the People of the Word.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">PEN Belarus considers literature and culture to be the basis of a stable democratic system.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">PEN Belarususes a human rights approach.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The\u00a0PEN Belarus assesses the current state of affairs in Belarus as a situation of terror and calls on the regime to stop it immediately.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In times of crisis and uncertainty, the PEN Belarus strives for constructive models of behavior: mutual respect, solidarity, non-violence, transparency, consistent protection of one\u2019s own values \u200b\u200band rights.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">PEN Belarus considers Belarus-centricity to be the most important principle of its activity.
