The Ministry of Internal Affairs announced the detention of the <\/span>owner of an underground printing house<\/b>. A 47-year-old resident of Tarasa\u016d village of Minsk district made flags, stickers, and \u201cother products with unregistered symbols\u201d in his printing house.<\/span><\/p>\n

Siarhiej Maroza\u016d<\/b>, photographer from Hrodna, was called for a “preventive talk” with the police. They took a sample of his saliva, fingerprints, and he had to sign a document admitting his awareness of criminal charges for participating in protests. Before the election of 2020, Siarhej for 5 years created social and media advertising for the local police, but last August, he recorded a video throwing away all the awards he received from them.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jura\u015b Kopcik<\/b>, detained on September 4 during the festival “Battle of Vor\u0161a” and sentenced to 10 days for participating in an “unauthorized mass event”, received another 12 days of administrative arrest.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kiry\u0142 Saleje\u016d<\/b>, the son of Vadzim Saleje\u016d, culturologist, professor at the Academy of Arts, has been detained.<\/span><\/p>\n

Alaksandr Bahdana\u016d<\/b> (Papa Bo), founder of the Cultural Center \u201cKorpus\u201d, and <\/span>Maksim Kruk<\/b>, sound designer, haven\u2019t been released after 10 days of arrest \u2013 they are suspects in a criminal case under Art. 342 of the Criminal Code.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dzmitry Padrez<\/b> (Dream), a street artist, is known to have been detained as a suspect in the criminal case under Art. 130 of the Criminal Code (incitement of social hatred) since July.<\/span><\/p>\n

Uladzimir Punko<\/b>, director of an enterprise in Viciebsk, was thrown in jail for 20 days for a white-red-white napkin in his car.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mika\u0142aj Jankoj\u0107<\/b>, music journalist and musician, was detained September 15 and later fined 980 Euro \u201cfor disobeying a police officer\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

Vadzim Jerma\u0161uk<\/b>, blogger Vadimati, is a suspect in criminal cases under Art. 368 of the Criminal Code “insult to the President of the Republic of Belarus” and Art. 370 of the Criminal Code “mockery of state symbols\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jula \u010carnia\u016dskaja<\/b>, who as a suspect in TUY.BY case, has been under home detention for five months, has had her term extended. <\/span><\/p>\n

Belarusian folk-metal band<\/span> Znich<\/b> has been denied a tour permit by officials for a concert on their 25th anniversary at the Re:Public club in Minsk.<\/span><\/p>\n

The court liquidated the local history organization <\/span>Talaka<\/b>, which had existed for 35 years.<\/span><\/p>\n

Authorities liquidated the <\/span>Belarusian School Society<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Life of the Imprisoned People<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Eduard Babaryka<\/b> can\u2019t get permission to exercise in the cell (he used to actively practice yoga), but during walks he continues jogging, pushing up, etc. He also learns to draw, but can\u2019t buy books.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ale\u015b Bialacki<\/b>, a human rights activist and a member of the Belarusian PEN Center, has been in prison for two months. Behind bars he is writing memoirs about his work at the Maksim Bahdanovi\u010d Literary Museum.<\/span><\/p>\n

On September 15, punk musician <\/span>Ihar Bancer<\/b> was released from the punitive confinement, where he had been put for 40 days, and brought to the open air prison in Viciebsk, where he is to serve his sentence. Bancer has been on a hunger strike for the last 19 days to protest against illegal actions against him. Now he isn\u2019t well.<\/span><\/p>\n

Viktar Babaryka<\/b> was transferred to another job: he works with bakery wares in the room with temperatures exceeding 30 degrees Celsius, with no ventilation, the windows are not allowed to open.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

Dissent and Cultural Activism<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>long list<\/b><\/a> for the Carlos Sherman Award<\/b> has been announced. This award for the best literary book translation into Belarusian was founded in 2016 by the Belarusian PEN Center, the Union of the Belarusian Writers and the Local charitable organization Viartannie Foundation.<\/span><\/p>\n

A meeting with <\/span>Adam H\u0142obus<\/b>, a Belarusian writer, poet and artist, took place on September 14 at the Maksim Bahdanovi\u010d Literary Museum in Minsk. The book “Family”, discussed at the meeting, was shortlisted for the Jerzy Giedroyc Literary Award in 2018.<\/span><\/p>\n

Small but meaningful and brave <\/span>actions of creative civil resistance:<\/b><\/p>\n

Women in white-red-white clothes read Belarusian books on the train \u2013 a group of women had been fined and sentenced to administrative arrests for that before;<\/span><\/p>\n

Residents of Minsk sang \u201cMahutny Bo\u017ea\u201d (“Mighty God”) near the church of St. John the Baptist, the song de facto banned and punishable.<\/span><\/p>\n

Alaksandr Vasilevi\u010d<\/b> wrote a collection of fairy tales “Daddy and Penguin” for his daughter Adele while in the pre-trial detention center. Nadzieja Zielankova, his wife, made the <\/span>files for printing<\/span><\/a> out available to the public.<\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>forum of cultural heritage restorers<\/b> took place in Minsk.<\/span><\/p>\n

Yuri Stylsky<\/b>, leader of the band “Daj dorogu!”, who had to leave Belarus under threat of being arrested for a music video for the song “Baju-baj” recognized as “extremist”, arranged an improv <\/span>home concert<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n
