On August 23, he was sentenced to another 12 days in jail under Art. 19.1 of the Administrative Code (petty hooliganism).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><b>Dzianis Ilin\u010dyk<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> was sentenced to 14 days of administrative arrest for a sticker with Pahonia on his car.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><b>Siarhiej Ba\u0142achona\u016d<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> from Homel was sentenced to a year in colony for the song \u201c\u0141uka\u0161enka Go Away!\u201d which he saved on his personal page in Vkontakte social network; that fell under the Article of the Criminal Code for &#8220;insulting the president&#8221;. <\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_8415\" style=\"width: 340px\"  class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-8415 size-gallery-thumbnails-small\" src=\"https:\/\/penbelarus.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/1_andrej-pyatrouski-340x240.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"340\" height=\"240\" \/ loading=\"lazy\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Andrej Piatro\u016dski<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><b>Andrej Piatro\u016dski<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, a former teacher from Smarho\u0144, was sentenced to 1.5 years in prison for having shown at his lesson last March a video about the Constitution with a logo of the media recognized as extremist in Belarus.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><b>Taras Tarnalicki<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, a film critic, was summoned to the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime and Corruption as a witness on August 25. Details of the case haven\u2019t been reported. The reason for his dismissal was his signature under the collective petition against violence and lawlessness.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ihar Karpenka, <\/span><b>the Minister of Education<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, claimed that &#8220;<em>semi-legal private kindergartens and schools under the guise of individual entrepreneurs, public or religious associations, have been in most cases used for political purposes, becoming hubs for preparing coloured revolution.<\/em>&#8220;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-gallery-thumbnails-small wp-image-8417 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/penbelarus.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/1_art-karparejshn-340x240.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"340\" height=\"240\" \/ loading=\"lazy\"><b>Authorities are liquidating<\/b> the Homel-based non-governmental organization <b>Talaka<\/b>, which has been reviving ancient Belarusian folk rites, collecting folklore, and reconstructing authentic festivals since the 1980s.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Minsk City Executive Committee is <\/span><b>liquidating the Center for Visual and Performative Arts \u201c<\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/artcorporation.by\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noindex noopener\"><b>ART Corporation<\/b><\/a><b>\u201d<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. Also while transported from the pre-trial detention center to the court Maria can see the sky and the roofs of houses, but in the courtroom nothing can be seen out of the window through the curtains. Maria denies all allegations in court.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><b>Ihar Bancer <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">has been punished by another 10 days in the punitive confinement. He refused to leave Belarus. Andrej is accused of inciting national hatred (part 3 of Article 130 of the Criminal Code) and faces from 5 to 12 years in prison.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><b>Ksenija Luckina, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">a former Belteleradiocompany journalist who made documentaries and historical reportages, has a growing brain tumor. Ksenija has been in prison for eight months. At first, she was linked to the &#8220;Press Club case&#8221; and accused of large-scale tax evasion. But after the case was closed, a new one was filed against her.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_8419\" style=\"width: 261px\"  class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-8419\" src=\"https:\/\/penbelarus.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/2_uladzimir-i-nadzeya-kalach--201x240.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"261\" height=\"312\" \/ loading=\"lazy\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">U\u0142adzimir and Nadzieja Ka\u0142a\u010d<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><b>Alaksandr Vasilevi\u010d<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u2019s being in custody has been extended again. He has been kept in jail for nearly one year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Relatives of<\/span><b> U\u0142adzimir and Nadzieja Ka\u0142a\u010d<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, imprisoned musicians from the band Irdorath, received their first letters from prison.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><b>U\u0142adzimir <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">is worried about his friends who got into this situation quite by accident. He writes that at first he found it hard to accept what happened, but gradually it\u2019s become easier. He learns to rejoice in every little thing, even the grass breaking through the bricks, the sky in the window, a short walk.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">From <\/span><b>Nadzieja<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&#8216;s letter it\u2019s clear that she is trying to keep up.
