and by this allegedly violated the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations by participating in the event.<br \/>\n\u2192\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In this regard, on March 9, Charg\u00e9 d&#8217;Affaires of Poland Martin Wojciechowski<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0was <a href=\"https:\/\/svabod1.azureedge.net\/a\/31149925.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">summoned<\/a> to the Foreign Ministry of Belarus.<br \/>\n\u2192\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In response, on March 10, Poland <a href=\"https:\/\/verietyinfo.com\/russia\/the-polish-consul-in-brest-was-offered-to-leave-belarus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">declared<\/a> the diplomat from the Belarusian Embassy in Warsaw a persona non grata.<br \/>\n\u2192\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">On March 11, the Belarusian Foreign Ministry informed Wojciechowski about the inexpediency of the presence of two more Polish diplomats on the territory of the country \u2013 the head and consul of the Consulate General of Poland in Hrodna.<br \/>\n\u2192\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">On March 12, the Polish Foreign Ministry announced the expulsion of two Belarusian consuls from Warsaw and Bialystok.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><b>Anastasija Pieravo\u0161\u010dykava [Anastasiya Peravoshchykava]<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, a resident of Homel who has been in prison since the end of January 2021 (she was tried 6 times in a row, each time receiving 15 days of administrative arrest, which makes 105 days in total), has been <a href=\"https:\/\/prisoners.spring96.org\/en\/person\/anastasija-peravoszczykava\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">recognized<\/a> a political prisoner. <\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_6076\" style=\"width: 324px\"  class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-6076 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/penbelarus.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/1_galadouka_banczar.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"324\" height=\"155\" \/ loading=\"lazy\" srcset=\"https:\/\/penbelarus.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/1_galadouka_banczar.jpg 324w, https:\/\/penbelarus.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/1_galadouka_banczar-300x144.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 324px) 100vw, 324px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ihar Bancar, photo by svaboda.org<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><b>Ihar Bancar [Igor Bantser],<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> musician and activist, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.svaboda.org\/a\/31148984.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">has been<\/a> on a &#8220;dry&#8221; hunger strike<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0since March 3. On March 12, another regular hearing in his case took place, he asked the court to change the measure of restraint and release him from custody, but the judge did not grant his request. The next hearing in his case is scheduled for March 18, potentially the 16th day of his hunger strike.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_6078\" style=\"width: 277px\"  class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-6078\" src=\"https:\/\/penbelarus.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/1_igar-losik.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"277\" height=\"231\" \/ loading=\"lazy\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ihar \u0141osik<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><b>Ihar \u0141osik [Ihar Losik]<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, a journalist and blogger, political prisoner, announced the beginning of a &#8220;dry&#8221; hunger strike on March 11.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><b>Natalla Chier\u0161e [Natalia Hershe]<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, artist, political prisoner who had been on hunger strike since February 22, ended it on March 12.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_6092\" style=\"width: 340px\"  class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-6092 size-gallery-thumbnails-small\" src=\"https:\/\/penbelarus.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/1_lizaveta-gancharova-340x240.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"340\" height=\"240\" \/ loading=\"lazy\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Lizavieta Han\u010darova<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Lizavieta Han\u010darova [Lizaveta Hancharova]<\/b>, designer and artist, was detained in Minsk on March 12 together with her father during a small neighborhood protest action. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">On March 14, several people were <a href=\"http:\/\/spring96.org\/be\/news\/102388\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">detained<\/a> during the <\/span><b>Maslenitsa<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> celebrations in Minsk.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In Brest on March 15, ten more people were <a href=\"https:\/\/nn.by\/?c=ar&amp;i=269817\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">convicted<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0in the <\/span><b>&#8220;Karahod case&#8221;<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. They received sentences from 1.5 years of home arrest (chimiya) to 1 year and 8 months in prison. He demanded that a summons be sent.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The <\/span><b>exhibition<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> &#8220;Dance Theater in the Theater&#8221; by the choreographer of the Hrodna Drama Theater <\/span><b>Viktoryja Balcar <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">(who has worked there since 1996), who has participated in the projects taking place at the only independent cultural space in Hrodna &#8220;Center of Urban Life&#8221;, was banned to be held in the theater. Courts do not stop work even on weekends: on Sunday, March 7, <\/span><b>Alaksandr Danilin<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, who was detained on the night of January 6-7 while hanging ribbons in Bara\u016dlany, was sentenced to 15 days of administrative arrest. On Sunday, closed hearings were held in at least three courts, having sentenced at least four people to administrative arrests. Due to her active position she had to leave Belarus. Andrej Pavuk is a civil activist who has been repeatedly brought to administrative responsibility by the authorities on trumped-up grounds. In the fall of 2020, he and his family were unable to return to Belarus due to persecution.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The vocalist of the band <\/span><b>Shuma<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Rusia, who left Belarus in 2020 to keep safe, released a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=6co2jJVmr0M\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">video<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0for the song Dreva \u2013 an ancient Belarusian prayer. Eurovoix, one of the largest news sites covering Eurovision, released a <a href=\"https:\/\/escxtra.com\/2021\/03\/10\/escxtra-statement-belarus-eurovision-2021\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">statement<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0critisizing the situation, as the song violated the rules of the contest because it has political implications.
