On the same day, Doctor of Historical Sciences <strong>Ale\u015b Kra\u016dcevi\u010d<\/strong>, an outstanding researcher of the Grand Duchy of Lithuanian history, laureate of Franci\u0161ak Bahu\u0161evi\u010d Award<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>founded by the Belarusian PEN Center, was arrested in Grodno <em>(Ale\u015b is free now, he spent 72 hours in jail, court imposed a fine of 10 basic units &#8211; about 106$).<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On the same day, several cultural figures engaged with the Belarusian PEN Center were detained: a musician of the \u201cLuty sakavik\u201d band and the Yanka Kupala National Academic Theater orchestra <strong>Eryk Arlo\u016d-\u0160ymkus [Eryk Arlou-Shymkus] <\/strong><em>(at Arlo\u016d-\u0160ymkus\u2019s trial, he received a 12 day sentence)<\/em>, camerawoman and filmmaker <strong>Alaksandra Babkova [Aliaksandra Babkova] <\/strong>(<em>court imposed a fine of 7 basic units &#8211; about 75$)<\/em>, arrested together with her mother, the former director of National State TV and Radio Company <strong>Natalia Bibikava <\/strong><em>(her case has been remanded)<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Such actions of the power structures are unduly repressive.
