Political persecution:<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Due to his activities, he has repeatedly faced politically motivated persecution.<\/span><\/p>\n

For instance, in 2013, he was fined for distributing the book <\/span>Maladafronta\u016dcy<\/span><\/i>.<\/span><\/p>\n

On 21 March 2017, after the Debut literary award ceremony, KGB special unit \u201cAlpha\u201d detained him as part of the \u201cWhite Legion\u201d case. He spent three months in detention.<\/span><\/p>\n

Years later, on 17 February 2026, Ale\u015b Ja\u016ddacha was detained in Minsk, during a broader sweep in which human rights defenders reported that at least ten people\u2014including publishers, publishing house staff, and book distributors\u2014were also detained.<\/span><\/p>\n

On 3 March 2026, the KGB declared a non-existent \u201ccoalition of publishing houses\u201d an \u201cextremist formation.\u201d In doing so, the KGB arbitrarily listed unrelated publishing houses and book distributors as part of this alleged coalition. Among those named were Belarusian-language publishers Kamunikat.org, Lohvinau Publishing House, and Andrei Yanushkevich Publishing.<\/span><\/p>\n

In connection with the so-called \u201cformation\u201d, the list mentions the publishers detained on 17 February \u2014 Zmicier Ko\u0142as, Vac\u0142a\u016d Bahdanovi\u010d, and Ale\u015b Ja\u016ddacha, as well as Jaros\u0142aw Iwaniuk, Ihar \u0141ohvina\u016d, and Andrej Janu\u0161kievi\u010d, who are currently abroad.<\/span><\/p>\n

As a result of these developments, on 13 March 2026, Ale\u015b Ja\u016ddacha was recognised as a political prisoner.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ale\u015b Ja\u016ddacha was released on 24 March 2026.<\/strong><\/p>\n
