Political Persecution:<\/b><\/h5>\n

Aleh Chamienka was detained in Minsk on 25 June. A criminal case was opened against him for cooperating with an independent Belarusian media outlet, which is designated as an \u201cextremist formation\u201d. He is currently held in Pre-trial Detention Centre No. 1.<\/span><\/p>\n

On 9 July 2025, human rights defenders recognised him as a political prisoner.<\/span><\/p>\n

On 4 March, the Minsk City Court sentenced musician and researcher\u00a0Aleh Chamienka under Article 361-4 of the Criminal Code (\u201cfacilitating extremist activity\u201d) to three years in a minimum-security penal colony and a fine of more than BYN 20,000 (USD 6,870).<\/strong> Aleh Chamienka was accused of cooperation with the editorial team of\u00a0Belarusian Radio Racyja<\/i><\/b>.<\/p>\n
