Political persecution:<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n

Her arrest became known on 24 February 2025<\/strong>. On 7 March 2025, the Minsk City Court will begin the criminal case hearing in which Palina Pitkievi\u010d is accused under Part 3, Article 361-1 of the Criminal Code (participation in an extremist formation). The State Security Committee (KGB) considers Palina Pitkievich involved in the “extremist formation” MediaIQ\u2014a Press Club Belarus project that enhances media literacy.<\/span>
\nOn 7 March 2025<\/strong>, the Minsk City Court sentenced Palina Pitkievi\u010d to 3 years of imprisonment in a low-security penal colony<\/strong>\u00a0under Part 3 of Article 361-1 of the Criminal Code (participation in an extremist formation).<\/span>
On 27 February 2025<\/strong>, she was recognized as a political prisoner.<\/span>
On 30 May 2025<\/strong>, she was added to the \u201cList of Belarusian citizens, foreign citizens and stateless persons involved in extremist activities.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Palina Pitkievi\u010d wrote journalistic articles on cultural topics and performed as an actress at the Social Theatre Laboratory in Minsk.<\/span><\/p>\n

She took third place in the “Nieba z saboju”<\/a> literary competition organized by PEN Belarus as part of the U\u0142adzimir Karatkievi\u010d Traveling Festival in 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n

She was the laureate of the “Ex Libris”<\/a> Literary Award in 2016.<\/span><\/p>\n

Her works were published in the Dziejas\u0142o\u016d<\/em><\/a> magazine.<\/span><\/p>\n
