Political persecution:<\/strong><\/h5>\n

On January 5, 2024, three members of the band “Nizkiz” were detained in Mogilev: Alaksandr Iljin<\/strong>, bass guitarist Siarhiej Kul\u0161a<\/strong>, and drummer Zmicier Chala\u016dkin<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

On January 8, 2024, a court hearing was held in the Lenin district court of Mahilo\u016d\u00a0against the musicians under Article 19.11 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (distribution of extremist materials).<\/p>\n

On January 10, 2024, Alaksandr Iljin was again brought to court in Mogilev under Article 19.11 of the Code of Administrative Offenses.<\/p>\n

There is no precise information about the verdicts against the musicians.<\/p>\n

On January 29, it became known that a criminal case has been initiated against the musicians of the “Nizkiz” band, though it is unknown which article they are charged with.<\/p>\n

On February 19, 2024, he was recognized as a political prisoner.<\/strong><\/p>\n

On March 20, 2024<\/strong>, Alaksandr Iljin, Siarhiej Kul\u0161a, and Zmicier Chala\u016dkin were sentenced to 2 years and 6 months of restriction of liberty by the Kastry\u010dnicki district court without being sent to an open-type correctional institution<\/strong>, according to Part 1 Art. 342 (‘Organization and preparation of actions that grossly violate public order, or active participation in them’)<\/p>\n

On April 12, 2024, it became known that the rock band Nizkiz was added to the “list of extremists” for “gross violation of public order.”<\/p>\n
