On March 28, the Prosecutor’s Office of Brest Region referred to the court the criminal case of Pavie\u0142 Piernika\u016d, who was accused of publishing “knowingly false information.”<\/p>\n
Pavie\u0142 Piernika\u016d was tried for editing Wikipedia. In December 2020, he edited the Wikipedia article “List of deaths related to protests in Belarus (2020-2021).” \u00a0Changes were made to one article in two languages: Russian and Belarusian (Tara\u0161kievica) to the section about the murder of peaceful protester Hienad\u017a \u0160uta\u016d in Brest, as well as to the preamble (where it is stated that the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the authorities did not admit responsibility for the death of the protesters).
