Russia\u2019s war has taken thousands of innocent lives, caused great destruction of civil infrastructure, and devastated the architectural and cultural heritage of Ukrainian cities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>What\u2019s going on?<\/b><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After the Ukrainian army liberated Kyiv\u2019s suburbs, which had been under Russian occupation since the beginning of the full-scale war, they found the bodies of civilians <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rferl.org\/a\/bucha-atrocities-eu-sanctions-russia\/31783571.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noindex noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">brutally killed<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by Russian forces. Some corpses exhibited signs of torture: their hands tied behind their backs and beheaded. Almost 300 people were buried in a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.euronews.com\/2022\/04\/03\/ukraine-dozens-of-bodies-lie-in-a-mass-grave-in-bucha\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noindex noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">mass grave<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in Bucha near Kyiv.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Women and girls from the liberated areas have <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2022\/apr\/03\/all-wars-are-like-this-used-as-a-weapon-of-war-in-ukraine\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noindex noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">recounted<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> gang-rapes at the hands of Russian soldiers, assaults taking place at gunpoint, and rapes committed in front of children. In intercepted calls, Russian soldiers tell relatives about <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.slidstvo.info\/english-stories\/russians-call-relatives-and-tell-about-the-stolen-gold-iphones-and-the-committed-rapes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noindex noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">raping minors<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/world-news\/2022\/03\/31\/audio-recording-reveals-russian-troops-eating-dogs-ration-packs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noindex noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">eating dogs<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/en.lb.ua\/news\/2022\/04\/03\/12498_intercept_russian_marauders.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noindex noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">marauding<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The occupiers have set up a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/russians-sell-stolen-ukrainian-goods-in-belarus-officials-2022-4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noindex noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">market<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in Belarus selling looted property from Ukraine.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In libraries in the temporarily occupied territories, the occupants <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/chytomo.com\/en\/russians-confiscating-and-destroying-ukrainian-literature-and-history-textbooks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noindex noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">seize<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Ukrainian fiction and history books that are not consistent with Russia\u2019s ideology. The occupiers <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/denisovaombudsman\/posts\/511212737026670\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noindex noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">force<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> teachers and educators to resume the educational process in the Russian language. At the same time, the UN&#8217;s cultural agency has confirmed that at least 53 Ukrainian historical sites, religious buildings and museums have sustained <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/over-50-landmark-ukraine-sites-152425094.html?fr=sycsrp_catchall&#038;guccounter=1&#038;guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cucHJhdmRhLmNvbS51YS8&#038;guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAN4hujbZ2CNSA9w7gteeANOOIuyohb_I2YxaNWzCdV0Pkdj0TQYmhuU64y6SRMyhG8p1mz0f0MdiZlP0nuVgCw96xJ4glI0kAaT39KJshvFcKSwXPhnV02GXF2Z62AdnJDRxxANzA2v1sEFejFY-JQVIjTger9XpR4SacEjXGYhR\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noindex noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">damage<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> during Russia&#8217;s invasion of Ukraine.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Russian propaganda openly declares Russia\u2019s desire to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/uacrisis.org\/en\/justification-of-genocide-russia-has-openly-declared-its-desire-to-exterminate-ukrainians-as-a-nation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noindex noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">exterminate<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Ukrainians as a nation. 83% of the Russian population <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2022-03-31\/russians-embrace-putin-s-ukraine-war-as-kremlin-muzzles-dissent\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noindex noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">supports<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Putin\u2019s fascist agenda.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Ukrainian writers and journalists during the war<\/b><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This war has once again shown us that a pen, microphone, laptop or camera in the hands of professionals is no less powerful than &#8216;Bayraktar&#8217;.
